TAGBILARAN CITY – A total of R12.5 million worth of shabu were confiscated by the city police in 35 months beginning January 2016 through various anti-drug operations.

SPO3 Celso Orapa ticked off the statistics in his presentation on Wednesday before the City Peace and Order Council.

Orapa, who represented Tagbilaran police chief Supt. Patricio Degay who was in Cebu, said the total weight of the confiscated shabu weighed about 1,065.88 grams.

There were 189 anti-drug operations conducted in the city from January to November this year, he said.

A total of 292 persons were arrest- ed while 549 cases were filed in court in the same period, Orapa said.

Orapa, said that in 2016 alone the police seized R7.5 million worth of shabu. President Duterte assumed office on June 30 that year, which was when the intensified campaign against illegal drugs started.

Orapa said the number of shabu seized dropped over time as the operations become less frequent.

The crime volume in Tagbilaran in November was lower than the same month last year, Orapa said.

The police recorded 156 crimes last November compared to 99 in November 2018. But there were fewer crimes solved, from 115 to 69.

The crime solution efficiency rate also was lower: From 73.71 percent to 69.69 percent.
