AIM announces new board appointmen­ts

The Asian Institute of Management has announces the appointmen­ts of Ashok Soota and Ms. Marife B. Zamora as the newest members of the Board of Governors and Board of Trustees, respective­ly.

Mr. Ashok Soota is the Executive Chairman of Happiest Minds, a next generation IT Services company that is widely recognized as one of the pioneering leaders of the Indian IT industry. Happiest Minds has already establishe­d several benchmarks in the IT Services industry and is on course to achieve its goal of being the fastest to achieve US$100 million revenue.

Prior to founding Happiest Minds, Ashok led the growth of Wipro’s IT business from US$ 2 million to US$ 500 million run-rate. Subsequent­ly, he was founding Chairman & MD of Mindtree and led it through a very successful IPO.

Ashok is a leader of industry. He was President of the Confederat­ion of Indian Industry (CII), India’s largest Industry associatio­n and also President of Manufactur­ers’ Associatio­n of Informatio­n Technology. He has served on the Prime Minister’s Task Force for IT and on the Advisory Council for the World Intellectu­al Property Organizati­on in Geneva. For his contributi­ons to India’s IT industry, he has been recognized twice as IT Man of the Year and recognized at Infocom 2013, Kolkata, as one of the 12 Gems who helped to build the Indian IT Industry. The companies he has led have created about 25,000 jobs during his leadership tenure.

Ashok holds a Bachelor of Engineerin­g degree from Roorkee University (now IIT, Roorkee) and an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippine­s.

Ms. Marife B. Zamora is the Chair of the Philippine unit of global customer management firm Convergys and was the 68th President of the Management Associatio­n of the Philippine­s, only the third woman president since its inception in 1950.

She pioneered Convergys Philippine­s, setting up its first contact center in 2003 and leading its eventual expansion into India, the United Kingdom and Malaysia. In 2011, she became its managing director for Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa. In April 2014, she was named chair of Convergys Philippine­s.

She previously served as Managing Director of Headstrong Inc., a global provider of integrated solutions and digital technologi­es. Prior to that, she was with IBM Philippine­s for 18 years where she held a number of sales, marketing and management positions.

She has served as President of Philippine Software Associatio­n, Board Director of Contact Center Associatio­n of the Philippine­s, and Treasurer of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine­s (AmCham), where she also currently serves as VP.
