Foul odor leads police to secret shabu lab in North Greenhills; 1204-M shabu seized
Police raided Thursday morning a clandestine shabu laboratory in North Greenhills, San Juan City, that could reportedly produce at least 1600 million worth of illegal drugs every month, a senior police official said.
The shabu lab is believed to be the source of the illegal drugs being sold in Metro Manila and its outskirts.
Director Guillermo Eleazar, head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the raid at No. 5 Arthur Street in the North Greenhills by virtue of a search warrant issued by Pasig City Regional Trial Court Judge Danilo Cruz (Branch 152) resulted in the confiscation of some 1204 million of shabu.
“This is abandoned clandestine laboratory. We seized a lot of equipment and ingredients. This can produce 30 kilos in one cycle,” said Eleazar.
One production of shabu lasts 10 days. Thirty kilos of shabu has a street value of 1204 million.
Eleazar explained that the operation in San Juan was an offshoot of drug sting that resulted in the arrest of suspected big-time drug pusher Marvin Yu and South Korean chemist Kim Jong Hee late last month.
The same drug bust resulted in the confiscation of more than 12 billion worth of shabu which was found inside an abandoned van parked in Pasig City. A follow-up operation on the condominium unit being rented by the Korean resulted in the seizure of an estimated 114-million shabu.

Eleazar said the raided clandestine laboratory in the gated subdivision appears to be the source of the multibillion shabu being peddled by the group of Yu and the Korean chemist.
“We are unearthing a big syndicate here. There are still members of the syndicate who are out there, not yet arrested,” said Eleazar.
Based on the network and the production of this syndicate, it appears that their operation extends beyond Metro Manila,” he added.
The official, however, would not disclose the names of the syndicate members and leaders as follow-up operations are still being conducted.
“There could be more series of operations that would be conducted,” said Eleazar.
Chief Inspector Allan Miparanum, EPD Drug Enforcement Unit chief, said the operation was prompted by residents of the subdivision who complained about the foul odor emanating from the raided house.
