Go: Review juvenile justice law
Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go on Monday reiterated the need for a legislative review of the juvenile justice law.
In an interview with reporters after an event with barangay leaders in Batangas, Go, who is gunning for a Senate seat in the 2019 polls, said the Juvenile Justice Act has not been properly implemented as drug syndicates use minors as couriers.
"Alam ko naman na ang mga kabataan ay ayaw maging biktima ng mga sindikatong ito (I know the youth do not want to be victims by these syndicates)," Go said.
The former presidential aide proposed sports development as one of the measures to help the youth avoid illegal drugs.
Go also defended the Duterte administration's campaign against illegal drugs.
He added that the police enjoy the support of the people for as long as they do their job well in accordance with the law and without abuse of their powers.
"Sumusuporta po kami sa pulis na nagtatrabaho kaysa naman sa mga kriminal na wala na po sa normal na pag-iisip (We support the policemen who are doing their jobs than criminals who are out of their minds)," he emphasized.
Go reminded the police to always do what is right in fulfilling their duty.
“Gawin ninyo tungkulin ninyo sa bayan at implementahin ang batas ng tama, suportado namin kayo (Do what is right and implement the law, we will support you),” he said.
