Task Force Bangon Marawi vows to finish rehab in 2021
DAVAO CITY — Task Force Bangon Marawi, through the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), has vowed to finish the rehabilitation of Marawi in 2021.
HUDCC Secretary General Marcelino Escalada, Jr. said that that his office, along with other government agencies tasked by Task Force Bangon Marawi, already made a 34-month timeline for its completion.
"In less than three years we shall be able to rehabilitate Marawi," Escalada said.
He added that there will be multiple procurement and project implementation to hasten the rehabilitation process
He said the rehabilitation of the whole of Marawi has a total of 114 billion budget in which the implementation of all infrastructure projects and others will be divided into three tranches.
Escalada said every tranche of Marawi's recovery will have priority projects to be completed in every year.
The first tranche will start in January 2019 to include projects such as debris management, master development plan with feasibility study, construction of sewage treatment plant, port facilities, wharves recovery, land acquisition, sanitary landfill, and the construction of the Grand Padian Central Market.
In 2020, the second year of the rehabilitation, Escalada said the task force will work on road infrastructure with underground facilities which include storm drainage system, water supply system, power supply system, and telecommunication facilities.
The second tranche will also involve the construction of the Agus River and Lake Lanao Promenade, Maritime Headquarters, Halal Slaughter House, Multi-level Carpark building, hospital, and procurement of protective equipment.
