SINGAPORE – ABS-CBN drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)” made history Dec. 5 by bagging the Best Single Drama/ Telemovie at the inaugural Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) Grand Dinner at the Capitol Theatre.

“MMK” dramatizes the extraordinary real life stories and anecdotes of ordinary people as well as celebrities. Its winning entry at AAA is “Kotse-Kotsehan (Toy Car),” a special two-part episode that shows the two perspectives by of a mother’s love for her children.

Another PH show, August Media’s “Tilda Appleseed,” won in the Best Preschool Programme. Based on Andre Schmachtl’s book series of the same name, it is about the adventure of a spirited mouse with a big heart and an even bigger

imagination.

Filipino actors Maja Salvador, Kyline Alcantara, Miguel Tanfelix, Gabby Eigenmann, and Michael V. were nominated in various categories.

Maja, who was in the running as Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance on ABS-CBN’s “Wildflower,” told Bulletin

Entertainment right before the awards ceremony started that she is “deeply honored” for the recognition.

“We are here to have fun,” she said. “The fact that there are so many teleseryes, actors, directors in the Philippines, we are already lucky to have been picked. Win- ning would just be a bonus.”

The nominees in each category at AAA were already National Winners in their respective countries.

Several Pinoy celebrities presented awards that night: Maja and Miguel Tanfelix in the Best Theme Song category, Kylie and Gabby in the Best Entertainment Host category, and Michael V. (along with “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu) in the Best Original Programme by a Streamer.
