MWSS reaches ISO status
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has already reached ISO status, which means the agency is now compliant with international standards and is well capable to meet the needs of its stakeholders and concessionaires.
ISO, which stands for International Organization for Standardization, is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards.
For more than 20 years, ISO has been recognized as the ideal way for companies and institutions to prove they take on delivering a quality service seriously.
MWSS' certification was issued by AJA Registrars, a third-party auditing firm, who looked at the agency's core and support processes including planning, asset management, human resources development, operations support, finance, and legal processes.
MWSS Administrator Reynaldo V. Velasco commended the agency's two concessionaires, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. and Manila Water Company, Inc., for also achieving ISO certifications.
Maynilad recently secured ISO 22301:2012 certification in Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) from international auditing and certification body TUV Rheinland Philippines for its sustainability, operational resiliency and recovery in the event of a disaster.
Manila Water, on the other hand, obtained its ISO 9001:2015 certification for their Quality Management System.
“These certifications reflect how the water industry in the Philippines is stealthily growing and will continue to grow, develop, and improve to suit the needs of our customers,” said Velasco.
“This shows that our services, treatment and products are indeed worldclass, top-notch and of caliber quality," he added.
