Tail-end of cold front, northeast monsoon to induce rains over PH – PAGASA

- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

Rains will persist over most part of the country due to two rain-inducing weather systems prevailing across the archipelago.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting Eastern Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting Luzon and Visayas.

Camiguin, Lanao del Norte,

Bukidnon, Misamis del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the tail-end of a cold front.

PAGASA advised residents in these provinces, especially those in low-lying and mountainous areas, to take extra precaution against possible flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, the amihan will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains over Visayas and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. The public is also warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Due to the surge of amihan, a gale warning remains in effect as sea travel remains risky over the eastern seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

PAGASA warned fisherfolk from setting sail into these coastlines due to rough seas that will be dangerous for small sea crafts.

The rest of the country will have moderate to rough seas.
