Number of Cordillera crime incidents drop by 8 percent

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera reported that crime incidents dropped by 8.76 percent from October to November last year, compared to the number of crime incidents that recorded during the same period in 2017.

Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, regional director, said there were a total of 1,255 crime incidents that were documented from October to November 2017, which were much more than the 1,145 crime incidents that were recorded in the different parts of the region during the same period last year.

He said. the recorded index crimes last year, which was 164, was 26.12 percent lower than the 222 index crimes in 2017.

Non-index crimes committed region-wide in October to November 2018 reached 981, or 5.03 percent lower than the 1,033 non-index crimes in 2017.

Of the recorded index crimes from October to November last year, physical injures accounted for the most number of violations with 60, followed by theft at 38, rape – 20, carnapping – 14, murder – 12, robbery – 11 and homicide – 9.

The PRO-COR also recorded a slight improvemen­t in its crime clearance efficiency after it registered an 81.04-percent crime clearance efficiency from October to November last year compared to the 80.39-percent crime clearance efficiency for the similar period the previous year.

Crime solution efficiency was also better at 72.58 percent compared to the 72.92 percent crime solution efficiency from October to November in 107.
