Comedian Liz Miele is due in the Philippines this month. Miele will bring her “Self Help Me” tour in Manila on Jan. 17 at Johnny B. Good at Glorietta 3. The show, presented by Prime I Events and Happy Happenings, will have Red Ollero and Andren Bernardo as opening acts and Alexio Tabafunda as host.

Hailing from New Jersey, Miele began stand-up comedy in New York City when she was 16. When she was 22, she appeared on “Live At Gotham” on Comedy Central.

Miele also appeared on “This Week At The Comedy Cellar,” NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me,” Hulu’s “Coming To The Stage,” and AXS TV’s “Gotham Comedy

Live,” according to her bio.

She created the viral YouTube hit “Feminist Sex Positions” and released her debut comedy album “Emotionally Exhausting” on iTunes and Amazon. In addition, she co-produced and co-starred in 40 episodes of the web series “Apt C3.”

When asked by Driven for Women website what advice would she give to those aspiring to become stand-up comics, Miele said, “Write about experiences that caused deep emotion; extreme frustration, deep depression, unbelievable anger, impossible joy and then dig deep into why you felt that way and you’ll find what’s interesting and humorous there.”

“Don’t try to look for what’s funny from the outside. Dig inside and pull it out and show people. You just gotta find how to connect, sometimes one word at a time,” she added.
