- By ALEXANDRIA SAN JUAN

President Duterte continues to be the most trusted government official, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed. In the “Ulat ng Bayan survey” conducted on December 14-21, Duterte had the highest approval and trust ratings among elected officials with 81 percent expressing their appreciation with his performance.

The President's latest approval rating increased by 6 percentage points from his September, 2018 rating.

President Duterte's trust rating also increased by 4 percentage points from 72 percent last September to 76 percent.

Aside from the President, Vice President Robredo and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III also enjoy majority approval and trust ratings with 62 percent and 56 percent, and 74 percent and 66 percent, respectively.

Approval ratings of Robredo and Sotto obtained a +1 percentage point, while their trust ratings were unchanged from their scores in the September, 2018 survey.

While three of the top government officials got high approval and trust ratings for the last quarter of 2018, House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo received low scores.

A big plurality of Filipinos or at least 43 percent are critical of the work done by Arroyo, while only 27 percent said they approved her performance and 30 percent are undecided.

In the same survey, 45 percent of Filipinos said they have “small or no trust” at all on Arroyo, 21 percent said they have “big trust,” and 34 percent are “undecided.”

Pulse Asia explained that it was the first time for Arroyo to be included in their survey on the performance and trust ratings of key government officials after taking over as Speaker in July last year.
