Pacanan named new 2nd district engineer in Leyte
TACLOBAN CITY – Leyte’s Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) second engineering district will be led by a new District Officer.
Engr. Gerard Pacanan has been tapped to replace Engr. Carlos Veloso, as announced at the district 21st founding anniversary Friday, January 11.
Pacanan is the son of former DPWH undersecretary Jaime Pacanan, who was, himself, a former DPWH Eastern Visayas director.
Ve l o s o h a s b e e n a s s i g n e d t o Leyte’s third engineering district, replacing Engr. Edward Oppura.
The younger Pacanan was previously assigned as chief of the first engineering district office in Region VI.
Veloso welcomed his new assignment, which serves as a sort of a homecoming for him.
"As you all know, this is like a homecoming for me because I spent my childhood in Villaba. This is also where my leadership career in the DPWH started, as Maintenance Engineer 1 in 1997 when this office was newly-opened," he said.
Veloso also sought for his new coworkers’ commitment and support as he issued an appeal for them to work together pursuant to their mandate.
He added that without their hard work and support, the office would not be able to function and accomplish the district's goals. (Marie Tonette Grace Marticio)
