Cop-killer slain in Antipolo drug bust
ANTIPOLO CITY – A man, who was tagged as one of the suspects in the killing of an Angono Police last February 4, was killed even as his accomplice managed to elude arrest in a buy-bust operation conducted by the local police here Tuesday night.
Police identified the slain suspect as a certain Sherwin, who was identified as one of the killers of PO3 Jose Changcoco, a member of the Angono Police Station. Changcoco was gunned down just last Monday outside Cristimar Village also in this city.
Investigation by police showed that prior to the shootout with the suspect, drug enforcement team members of the Antipolo City Police Station targeted Sherwin in a buy-bust operation in Sitio San Lorenzo Ruiz.
The authorities were acting on reports by intelligence operatives that the suspect was involved in selling shabu in the area.
The report added that after he handed a sachet of shabu to a police-poseur buyer, Sherwin sensed a set-up, prompting him to pull out his weapon and fire at policemen who were monitoring the drug exchange.
This triggered the shootout that led to the death of the badly outgunned suspect.
Police said the suspect’s cohort, who was also considered as one of the suspects in the death of Changcoco, managed to flee aboard a tricycle, which, police said, was the same get-away vehicle used in the killing of the Angono cop.
