3 die, 8 injured in Quezon road accident

LOPEZ, Quezon – Two firemen and a retired police officer died while eight others were injured in multiple accidents Friday evening at Barangay Pansol in this town. The fatalities were identified Fire Officer 3 Ronaldo Alcala, Senior Fire Officer 3 Cleto Nataño, 52, and retired police Inspector Juanito Untiveros -- all residents of Tagkawayan town. Injured were fireman Roderick Odi, 31; Reynaldo Talain, Aime Lerum, Marlex Mendegortin, Dandy Severa, Ariel Cris Principe, Lenon Erl Tagulinao, and Jeanette Florido. Reports show that at around 9:40 p.m. the Bicol-bound Mitsubishi Adventure (WGC 954) was smashed by an incoming passenger bus (UYD 646) driven by one Julio Mayores. After the collision, the bus then crashed into an Urvan van (AAO 3398) driven by one Senen Paras Regencia and hit the house of Florido situated near the road. The bus was heading towards Manila. The injured bus passengers were given first aid by MDRRMO and BFP before being brought to Magsaysay Memorial District Hospital. (Danny J. Estacio)
