Continuing measles vaccination

-

ANGONO, RIZAL – The local government has assured the public that the immunization program to fight measles continues with the regular vaccination of children and adults in this town. Mayor Gerardo Calderon said parents who want their infants and themselves immunized are urged to go to the nearest village health center near their residence should they want to get immunized from measles. The free mass vaccination is on-going in the town’s health centers as part of the health program of the local government and in compliance to the call of the Department of Health to spread the immunization campaign of the national government to the barangay and community level to achieve its target, that is to eradicate the illness that has now become an outbreak in most part of the country. Since January, the municipal health office through the town’s health centers, have provided antimeasles vaccination to some 575 children and continues to conduct contact tracing, history tracing, immunization status and referral of cases to the municipal health office of patients suffering from measles. The municipal government said some 40 individuals contacted measles, two of whom died. With the figures, the municipal government continues to conduct massive information campaign to reach out to parents to make them aware of the benefits of government’s immunization program. Parents whose kids, especially infants have not received the measles vaccine are encouraged to go the nearest health centers in their village to receive the necessary guidance and medical assistance from the municipal health office here.
