Foton trips United VC

Foton leaned on American Courtney Felinski and Turkish Selime Ilyasoglu to beat United Volleyball Club, 26-24, 25-20, 1525, 25-21, in the opener of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Felinski finished with 23 points while Ilyasoglu added 19 points and 14 digs in powering the Tornadoes to an impressive start in the conference.

The two imports conspired to help Foton rally from a 10-4 deficit in the fourth set on its way to victory.

The Tornadoes are hoping to compete despite losing sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat.

Foton’s last championship came during the 2016 Grand Prix.

Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani scored 23 points but it was not enough for United Volleyball Club to avoid dropping its initial assignment.
