Polillo captures 2 gold medals in regatta race

The Polillo Dragonboat Racers snared two of the five gold medals at stake in the recent Sprints By The Bay: Dragon Boat Regatta at the North Fountain of SM by the Bay in Pasay City.

The team from Quezon dominated the 200-meter mixed standard boat with a time of 51.32 seconds and the 200m women’s small boat in 1 minute and 1.83 seconds.

Other winners were United Paddlers Club PH (Manila) for Mixed Small Boat, Dagun Pilipinas (Manila) for Open Small Boat, and the Marines for the Open Standard Boat Category.

Ricspeed Dragon Boat Team of Davao also topped the category with the most number of participan­ts and entries who made it to the finals.

Twenty-two teams from across the country competed in the inaugural race, which has been officiated by the Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragon Boat Federation.

The event strengthen­ed the partnershi­p between SM by the Bay and Seahawks PH Dragon Boat Team as this served as their first venture for the year and their biggest for the last two years of stationing at the The Esplanade Seaside Terminal (also an af- filiate property of the SM Investment­s Corporatio­n).

It was supported by the Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Coast Guard, Pasay LGU and big brands in the industry such as MMP Awards Specialist, Smart, Maynilad, Spurway Marine Floaters, Vitamin Boost, Light Water and Tim Hortons, to name a few.
