Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), together with 18 Malaysian companies, participated in the Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition (Worldbex) 2019 at the World Trade Centre, Manila held last month to promote Malaysian capabilities in construction and building materials in the ASEAN market.

This year marked the fifth time MATRADE participated in Worldbex exhibition. All the participants were eager to promote quality and innovatively designed products to visitors and potential buyers in the Philippines as well as ASEAN and the neighboring countries. Among the products promoted during the exhibition are façade, paints and coating, eco-friendly flooring deck, architectural decoration, sink and faucet, recreational products, water heaters, sanitary wares, insulation materials as well as cement products and construction machinery.

According to Rusiah Mohamed, director of MATRADE’s Construction and Business Services Section, Malaysia’s participation in the Worldbex has proven to generate a lot of interest from developers, contractors, builders and architects to source for new innovative and technologically efficient building materials for the construction industry in the Philippines.

Worldbex provided a strategic platform for Malaysian companies not only to network with potential buyers but also an avenue to create awareness of high quality and innovative Malaysian products. This year, Malaysia shared its technological know-how in low cost construction solutions through a pocket talk on the second day of Worldbex.

MATRADE Trade Commissioner based in Manila, SitiAzlina Ali Hanafiah said that MATRADE has been actively pursuing opportunities in the construction and building materials. “This augurs well with the message by President Duterte to our Prime Minister last week that the Philippines welcome more participation of Malaysian companies in the country’s development. Malaysia is excited to share its expertise and innovative products,” she added.
