- By MARTIN A. SADONGDONG

Beware of abandoning your children for that might land you in jail.

A man accused of not supporting his own son from his estranged wife was arrested by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Taguig City Saturday afternoon.

Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, NCRPO regional director, identified the suspect as James Czarvi Esguerra alias JC, 33, of Barangay San Miguel, Taguig City.

Esguerra was apprehended by elements of NCRPO-Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) who served an alias arrest warrant against him at a fastfood chain on C-5 Road, Diego Silang, Barangay Ususan around 1:30 p.m.

The alias arrest warrant was issued by Hon. Jennifer Santos-De Lumen, presiding judge of Cainta, Rizal Regional Trial Court, Branch 18-FC for Other Acts of Child Abuse (Non-Support) under Republic Act 7610 in relation to RA 8369 or the Family Courts Act of 1997.

Eleazar bared that the operation stemmed from the complaint of Esguerra’s estranged wife who requested not to be identified.

According to the wife, Esguerra failed to provide financial suppport to their minor son from 2010 to 2013 after they parted ways in 2010.

In 2014, Esguerra seemed to have a change of heart as he started giving financial support to his family.

However, two years later, Esguerra fathered a child by another woman, and his wife said he let her knew that he would no longer continue supporting their son.

This, despite Esguerra receiving a letter from his estranged wife for child support.

Esguerra’s wife then decided to file a case against the suspect for non-support.
