Newbie sings anthem of teenagers

-

Generation Z member Via Ortega has released her debut song “Paghanga,” a bubblegum pop track about the fleeting feeling of teenage crush. “It’s about a girl who can’t tell her feelings to her crush,” she said. “I think having a crush is normal for our age, so this is really relatable to many.”

Via was discovered by a veteran showbiz writer who encouraged her to audition for Viva Records.

The budding singer has been taking up voice lessons since she was three years old under veteran songwriter Vehnee Saturno.

What has she learned from Vehnee? “The five components of singing: Breath, Diction, Voice, Rhythm and Pitch.”

Via believes she has what it takes to be her generation’s total performer just

like Sarah and Nadine Lustre.

“I’m not trying to be my idols but they inspire me to work and to be at my best,” she shared.

The teen talent is eager to learn more about the ins and outs of the industry. “I think I just need to go with the flow and step by step lang,” she said.

Despite her burgeoning career, Via hasn’t stopped schooling. She is a Grade 8 student at St. Therese College.

It’s all about time management and having the right support group, she noted.
