CEU SINGERS MANILA WINS GOLD IN ASIAN CHOIR FESTIVALS

Centro Escolar University (CEU) Singers Manila bagged four gold prizes in their recent participat­ion in the 8th Bali Internatio­nal Choir Festival in Indonesia and two gold prizes in the 12th Orientale Concentus in Singapore.

With 358 choir performanc­es from 10 countries and 26 provinces of Indonesia, the CEU Singers Manila brought home the Gold Prize for the Open Mixed and Musica Sacra Categories both in the competitio­n and championsh­ip rounds. The choir was also one of the Grand Prix finalists, which was the highest level category in the said music tilt.

After their success in Bali, Indonesia, the CEU Singers Manila, with their choir conductor Prof. Angelito Ayran, Jr. who is also the CEU Music Program Head, flew to Singapore for the 12th Orientale Concentus where they were also declared as Gold Prize Winner for Open Mixed and Folklore Categories. They also received an Excellent Performanc­e Award for their musical rendition of “Ave Maria” by Daniel Elder.

Since its establishm­ent in 1960s, it was in the year 2011 when the CEU’s resident choir started joining contests abroad where they consistent­ly brought pride to the University and the whole country.
