151-M shabu found by fisherman in waters off northern Samar
TACLOBAN City – Over 151 million worth of suspected shabu was discovered by a local fisherman in the island town of Biri, Northern Samar, on Saturday, August 10.
The fisherman reportedly stumbled upon three big transparent plastic bags that contain white crystalline substance suspected to be "shabu."
Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos, director of the Eastern Visayas regional police, said the illegal drugs were turned over on Saturday afternoon, immediately after they were discovered by the fisherman.
“Allegedly, he recovered the plastic bags at the coastal area of Sitio Pagul in Barangay Pio del Pilar in Biri,” said Carlos.
Three of the transparent plastic bags weighing about 2 kilograms each were sealed, while the 4th plastic, weighing about 1.5 kilos was already opened.
They said the estimated street value of the 7.5 kgs. of shabu is about 151 million.
The suspected shabu was found along the shorelines of Sitio Pagul, Brgy. Pio del Pilar of Biri Town.
Samples of the suspected shabu were sent to the Crime Laboratory for analysis. The rest was kept as evidence.
This is the first time that big plastic
sachets containing shabu was found floating in the province.
It was learned that since February last year, several bricks containing cocaine were found floating in the sea in Mindanao and some parts of Luzon.
The cocaine is believed to be part of a shipment that was supposed to be transported to Australia.
Carlos said they are conducting an investigation to determine the source of the shabu found floating in Northern Samar.
