Grandmother dies in landslide

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — A grandmother died, while her grandson suffered head injuries, after their house was crushed by a landslide Sunday night at Upper Cotcot, Barangay Bangao, Buguias, Benguet. The Buguias Municipal Police said Gloria Rolando Langawan, 72, died on the spot, while her grandson Ben Rafael Langawan was rescued and brought to the Lutheran Hospital. The victims were sleeping when the soil eroded and hit the left portion of their house and pinned Langawan to death at about 10 p.m. The Cordillera Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council advised residents landslide prone areas to evacuate while the region is still experiencing heavy monsoon rains.
