‘Nothing to fear’, says VP Leni as she makes drug report public Dec. 16
Vice President Leni Robredo said on Tuesday she will release her findings on the drug war in a “report to the nation” on December 16, Monday, after the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
“Matatapos siya on Thursday pero nasa Basilan at Marawi kasi ako. Most probably sa Monday gagawin (Games will be finished Thursday but I will be in Basilan and Marawi.
Most probably on Monday I will make the report public),” Robredo, former co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), said in a media interview.
The Vice President said she would disclose publicly the report that contains her discoveries and recommendations on how to improve government’s efforts against illegal drugs.
“Iyong expectation lang ang hinahanap solusyon, hindi problema. Ang hinahanap natin papaano mapapabuti, mai-improve at magmumove forward (Our expectation only is to find a solution, not problem. We are looking on ways how it would be better, improved, and how we can move forward),” she stressed.
Robredo gave the exact date of the release of her report from her short stint as ICAD co-chair on the sidelines of the launch of the Istorya ng Pag-asa (Stories of Hope) photo gallery at the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) central office in Quezon City.
The lady official has focused on her Angat Buhay and INP projects after she was fired by President Duterte from the anti-drug body on November 24 after 19 days on the assignment.
Robredo was sacked for her alleged incompetence and failure to perform her duties.
The former anti-drug czar said she found funny the negative reaction of some administration officials over her upcoming report.
“Walang dapat matakot. Medyo nakakatawa nga ‘yung anticipation nanakot ako, wala naman tayong tinatakot. Kasi ang pananakot para lang iyon sa may kasalanan (No one should be scared of the report.
I found funny the anticipation I’m trying to scare them. I’m not scarying anyone. Because threats are only for those who are guilty),” she said.
