Sheraton Manila Bay’s first Christmas celebration is all about giving back

Sheraton Manila Bay’s first Christmas celebration has the theme “Where the World Gathers,” taking inspiration from the global brand’s positioning as the “World’s Gathering Place.” With developments in over 70 countries, the brand can make the world a better place. This Christmas, the people over at Sheraton Manila Bay want to get into the spirit of giving, the reason for the season, by opening their doors and their hearts to the underprivileged youth.

A TON OF SMILES

Richard Masselin, the hotel’s general manager, didn’t think twice about the choice of charity. “Before we talk about social issues on a global scale like hunger and famine in Africa, we need to focus on our very own first. We are in a third world country that deals with poverty every single day.”

As an expat in Manila for two decades now (he even oversaw the hotel’s past brand, Pan Pacific), he knows each artery and each capillary of the city. Some sights that tug at his heartstrings become too much for him to bear. “Street children and out-ofschool youth are everywhere in Manila, almost as if Manila is not Manila without them, and that is a sad thing. So, we’re all for the efforts of Bahay Tuluyan in Ermita,” he says.

Sheraton Manila Bay signed a oneyear contract with the non-government organization that gives hope and a new lease on life to children abused and exploited. The hotel promises to hold cross-exposure programs in-house so the youth can learn about hotel management and tourism. “You give them education, something to look forward to, a purpose,” he says.

Be serenaded with classic Christmas carols from the hotel’s very own community choir from Dec. 16 to 24. On Dec. 24, gather your favorite people together and celebrate Christmas Eve with a bountiful Noche Buena feast preluded by the Holy Mass.
