TV host Boy Abunda was unable to contain his emotions in talking about the pain of losing his Nanay Lesing. Mrs. Abunda, 90, passed away Dec. 1. In a recent live episode of his eponymous talk show, Abunda began by saying he isn’t sure how he is going to move on.

In the course of his career, Abunda has paid tribute to his mother following the tagline “Make your Nanay proud.”

“Sentro po ng buhay ang akin ina,” he said. “I am surrendered to the will of God, but I don’t know how I’m going to move on. I continue to commit myself to work, dahil ito po ang nagpapasaya sa aking ina.”

He recalled that on the day his mother died, he still resumed work.

“Ayoko pong hindi harapin ang pain na ito. I want to confront it, I want to meet it head on. Kailangan damdamin ang buong process ng pain, because I don’t want to be overpowered by it,” the host said.

Nanay Lesing’s remains were brought to their hometown in Borongan town, Samar.

The TV host went on to thank those who have been sending their sympathies.

He also acknowledged his family members, as well as his long-time partner Bong Quintana for their support.

“Nanay, wherever you are, I will continue to make you proud. I dedicate to you my work, I dedicate to you my life, and I promise to take good care of my family,” Abunda said.
