New Land Rovers in showrooms
Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), exclusive Philippine distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, recently unveiled the new Land Rover Discovery Sport together with a special announcement.
Discovery Sport
The new Discovery Sport is the latest addition to the bloodline of Land Rover’s heritage of SUVs. New vehicle architecture ensures it is now more efficient, technologically-advanced and versatile than ever. The latest version of the Discovery Sport utilizes trademark Discovery design cues such as a clamshell bonnet, rising beltline, and tapered roof, while its proportions have been optimized to project a more striking visual with new LED headlamps at the front and rear, alongside a new front grille and bumpers. Inside, newly-designed seats provide improved comfort and versatility, thanks to the second row 60:40 fold through, split fold and slide functionality.
The new Land Rover Discovery Sport also features
Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture
(PTA), with a body that’s 13 percent stiffer than its predecessor. Rigidly-mounted subframes reduce noise and vibration intrusion into the cabin and improve comfort and safety in the event of a collision. It is also one of the first Land Rovers to use Real Driving Emissions stage 2 (RDE2) certified engines, improving both its efficiency and impact on the environment.
The latest Discovery Sport combines all-terrain handling with allweather capability, including a wading depth of 600mm, and all-wheel drive. It also has Terrain Response 2 that automatically detects the surface and adjusts the torque delivery to best suit the conditions. A reversing camera is standard on all models, alongside a suite of advanced driver assistance systems such as Lane Keep Assist and Driver Condition Monitor.
The new Discovery Sport is available in the S trim in addition to the R-Dynamic variant, which features Diamond Turned alloy wheels, unique front and rear bumpers and Shadow Atlas script on the bonnet and tailgate. Inside, ebony seats with contrast stitching and unique treadplates provide a sportier character.
Interested customers can now reserve a unit or book a test drive with All British Cars (ABC), the sole authorized dealer of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in the Philippines. Prices for the new Land Rover Discovery are R4.490 million for the Discovery Sport S 2.0L Diesel, and R4.790 million for the Discovery Sport RDynamic S 2.0L Diesel.
All-new Defender
The Land Rover Defender has served as a symbol of exploration across seven decades, earning a unique place in the hearts of explorers, humanitarian agencies and adventurous families across the world. Proven in the harshest environments on earth, the new
Defender maintains this bloodline.
The new Defender features advanced allterrain technologies for its 21st century update, remaining true to the pioneering spirit that has been a Land Rover hallmark for 71 years. It features a distinctive silhouette with minimal front and rear overhangs providing excellent approach and departure angles.
Innovative features include a dash-mounted gear shifter to accommodate an optional central front ‘jump’ seat, which provides three-abreast seating across the front like early Land Rovers. As a result, the Defender 110 is offered in a five-seater configuration with a loadspace behind the second-row seats of up to 1,075 liters, and as much as 2,380-litres when the second row is folded. The Defender 90 will be able to accommodate six occupants in a vehicle the length of a compact family hatchback. Special seating customization is available as an option on the First Edition version.
User-friendly features include practical touches and advanced technological innovations. Durable rubberized flooring shrugs off the spills of daily adventures and once-in-alifetime expeditions, providing a brush- or wipe-clean interior.
Land Rover’s new purpose-engineered D7x (for extreme) architecture is based on a lightweight aluminum monocoque construction to create the stiffest body structure Land Rover has ever produced. It is three times stiffer than traditional body-on-frame designs, providing perfect foundations for the fully independent air or coil sprung suspension and supports the latest electrified powertrains.
The new body architecture provides ground clearance of 291mm and world-class off-road geometry, giving the 110 approach, breakover and departure angles of 38, 28 and 40 degrees (off-road height) respectively. Its maximum wading depth of 900mm is supported by a new Wade program in the Terrain Response 2 system, which ensures drivers can ford deep water with complete confidence. On dry land, Land Rover’s advanced ClearSight Ground View technology helps drivers take full advantage of Defender’s all-conquering capability by showing the area usually hidden by the bonnet, directly ahead of the front wheels, on the central touchscreen.
At launch, the all-new Defender will come with the Ingenium P400 3.0L in line six-cylinder Petrol engine. It features a combination of an electric supercharger to deliver immediate response supported by a twin scroll turbocharger and Continuous Variable Valve Lift, which boosts power and helps the engine to breathe with maximum efficiency.
The new Land Rover Defender is also available for reservation, and will arrive in the Philippines on April, 2020. It will be offered in five variants with the following prices: R6.21 million for the Defender 110 Urban; R6.26 million for the Defender 110 Country; R6.34 million for the Defender 110 Adventure; R6.51 million for the Defender 110 Explorer; and R9.29 million for the Defender 110 First Edition.
