Barbie gives back this holiday season
Partners with LGUs and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls to spread love and happiness to children
To give smiles to children and share the love this Yuletide season, the iconic doll Barbie, in collaboration with various local government units (LGU) in Metro Manila, together with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, has launched a project that gives toys to underprivileged kids this Christmas season.
Among the LGUs that participate in this project are Pasay, led by Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, Quezon
City, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, and Taguig, led by Mayor Lino Cayetano.
During the recently held launch at the Eastwood Mall in Quezon City, participating LGUs announced their chosen charities. Quezon City chose the QC General Hospital for cancer ward children, Pasay picked the pedia ward of the Pasay City General Hospital, and Taguig selected the Family Council Executive Board to be the recipients of assorted toys from Richprime Global Inc. Richprime is the leading distributor of global kids’ brands such as Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, Vtech, Monster High, and HIT Entertainment.
“Today, as we end the year in celebrating Barbie 60th anniversary, we will spark joy to these kids because I believe whenever you give a toy to any kids in the world, they will react the same. It’s the element of surprise because toys make a difference,” says Richprime president and CEO
Myrna Tang Yao.
Everyone can join this wonderful project. With every purchase of any Barbie items worth ₧700, one toy will be given to the chosen charity. Shoppers may purchase the iconic doll at the Newport Mall in Pasay until Dec. 25, and at the Festive Walk Iloilo in Iloilo City until Jan. 5, 2020.
Shopper’s generosity and loving heart won’t go unnoticed, customers who purchase Barbie dolls are in for a treat. They will be given a privilege to enjoy all the exciting pocket activities such as visiting the first ever twoBarbie, story Barbie Holiday Dream House in the Philippines with Special Barbie Diorama, which will be displayed in the said malls.
BARBIE COLLECTOR’S EDITION FASHION SHOW
In celebration of Barbie’s 60 iconic years, a Grand Fashion Show featuring Barbie and Ken’s best collection from 1959 to 2019 was also featured during the launch.
Among the featured dolls were the Original Barbie in bathing suit—the first Barbie doll that appeared on March 9, 1959 at a toy fair in New York City, and the 1965 Astronaut which reflected people’s enthusiasm for the space program. Other dolls represented were the quintessential California girl Malibu Barbie of 1971, the 1980 African American Barbie, the most popular Totally Hair Barbie of 1990, the natural-looking and more athletic 2000 Jewel Girl Barbie, and the 2019 Barbie 60th Anniversary Doll.
Louder and prouder than ever from then to now, Barbie has inspired girls to believe they can be anything. More than being a fashion icon and doll brand, Barbie aims to champion a world where all girls can pursue their limitless potential.
