Couple slain in Cavite home
IMUS CITY – A couple died on late Tuesday night when they were shot by a man inside their house in Phase III Extension in Green Estate Subdivision in Barangay Malagasang I-G, this capital city.
A report, which the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) released on Wednesday, identified the fatalities as Lowel Reposar Dimapilis, 39, a tricycle driver; and his wife Madelyn Mateo Dimapilis, a call center agent.
Neighbors and responding policemen found the lifeless bodies of the Dimapilises at the sala of their house.
Lowel bore four gunshot wounds while Madelyn had two.
The still unidentified assailant fled after the shooting.
The attack reportedly happened as the Dimapilis couple were talking in their living room at 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Initial police report, citing a witness account, revealed that shots rang out shortly after the gunman barged into the Dimapilises’ sala,
Corporal Jessie Villanueva, officer-on-case, said that the motive for the attack has yet to be ascertained.
In an interview, Villanueva said that there was a report from a source in the barangay that the shooting may have had a drug link. He did not elaborate as the incident investigation was still ongoing.
"We are still validating the report, nothing is definite yet, we are still in the investigation process," Villanueva told this reporter.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SoCO) led by Major Fernando Perilla recovered at least eight shells for a .45 cal. pistol and three deformed slugs in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Vicente O. Amante, Imus police acting chief, ordered the incident investigation.
