BTS to make comeback with ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ album

K-pop superstars BTS will make their much-awaited comeback with new album set for release next month.

Big Hit Entertainm­ent announced BTS will release the album “Map Of The Soul: 7” on Feb. 21 and pre-orders started yesterday.

“Hello. BTS Map of the Soul: 7 will be released on Friday, Feb. 21. Pre-orders will begin on Thursday, Jan. 9. Additional details about the new release will be available on BTS Weverse and the Fan Cafe. We look forward to continued interest and support from all of our ARMY,” according to the announceme­nt posted on BTS’ Weverse app.

The announceme­nt trended worldwide on Twitter with the hashtags #7isComing, #BTSIsComin­g, #MAP_ OF_THE_SOUL_7, Map of the Soul, and #BTScomebac­k occupying the top 5 places.

The new album will come 10 months after BTS released their “Map Of The Soul: Persona” album in April 2019. “Map Of The Soul: Persona” and its carrier track “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey have brought multiple awards and recognitio­ns for BTS.

It won album of the year while “Boy With Luv” bagged song of the year at the 2019 Melon Music Awards, 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and 34th Golden Disc Awards.

For 50 weeks in 2019, BTS sold 6.02 million albums, according to Korea’s Gaon music chart. By end of November 2019, “Map Of The Soul: Persona” had 3.68 million copies sold.

In Nielsen Music’s 2019 Mid-Year Report, “Map Of The Soul: Persona” had the highest physical album sales in the US in the first half of the year with 312,000 copies.
