DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Z. Duterte bared that the city government will not shoulder the hospital bills of individuals who will get afflicted with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to violation of Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) protocols.

Duterte’s threat came after she noted that many sports utility vehicles (SUV) in the highways of the city have been roaming around the city despite the implementation of ECQ on Tuesday morning.

The mayor said, in an interview over 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio on Tuesday night, she already told the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) officials that the city government will not pay for the medical expenses of COVID-19 patients who get infected by the coronavirus because they did not follow ECQ protocols.

“Kung ma gk as a kit mom ang it amo’ g go bye rnouny ad iaygasu roy-s u roy ram o kung as am oman ga d to( If you got sick you, you seek help from the government but you are just roaming around outside),” she said.

She said no assistance will be extended if found during the contact tracing and interview that the patient got the virus from violating the quarantine protocol.

“Dali lang man namahibaw-an kay mangutana man jud ng doctor kung asakana-expose, asakaniadto (It will be easy to confirm because the doctor will usually ask where did they go and how they were exposed),” she said.

The mayor said the violators of ECQ must prepare up to P2 million to pay all the expenses for the treatment of COVID-19 even if they have Philhealth benefits

Duterte also said the city will also not shoulder the cremation of the violator if he or she will die due to Covid-19.

“Kun gm aka-a ff ordkaog pal itogg as olin a,mak a-a ff ordk ag bay adsaim ong hospital bill,m aka-afford kagp ag-cremates aim on gk aug a ling on (If you can afford to buy gasoline you can also afford to pay your hospital bills and cremation),” she said.
