2020 Korea Power Celebrity 40 list revealed
Forbes Korea magazine unveiled its 2020 Korea Power Celebrity 40 list of the most influential people in that country based on media exposure, broadcasting activities, income and social media (called SNS in Korea).
K-pop superstars BTS topped the list this year from being in second place last year, getting a score of 373.6. They ranked first in income (30 billion won or $24.6 million), second in social media followers and third in media exposure.
Professional baseball player Ryu Hyun-jin rose to second place from 39th last year. He is No. 1 in media exposure.
K-pop group BLACKPINK ranked third from first place last year. They are No. 1 in social media with combined followers of 61.57 million on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Football player Son Heung Min bagged fifth place from ninth last year, followed by “Parasite’ director Bong Joon-ho, TV host Jun Hyun-moo, comedienne Park Narae, comedian Lee Soogeun, girl group TWICE and Super Junior member Kee Heechul.
Placing 11th to 20th are trot singer Song Ga-in, golf player Ko Jin-young, TV personality Seo Jang-hoon, TV host and comedian Yoo Jae-suk, trot singer Jang Yoon-jeong, chef and TV personality Baek Jong-won, actor Kim Nam-gil, actor Jung Hae-in, singer IU and football player Lee Kang-in.
Bagging 21st to 30th places are actor and singer Lee Seunggi, comedienne Jang Do-yeon, “When the Camellia Blooms” star Kang Haneul, “Crash Landing on You” actress Son Yejin, trot singer Hong Jin-young, “When the Camellia Blooms” actress Gong Hyojin, TV personality Jang Sung-kyu, trot singer Hongja, “Crash Landing on You” actor Hyun Bin and “Parasite” actress Cho Yeo-jeong.
The 31st to 40th places went to actor Ju Ji-hoon, Do Kyung-wan, singer and actress Kwon Nara, actress Kim Hyesoo, actress Lee Chung-ah, model and TV personality Han Hyejin, actor Park Bogum, football manager Park Hangseo, trot singer Jeong Mi-ae and MMA fighter Chan Sung Jung.
