Drowning victims

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Two teenaged girls drowned while swimming in the Morong River here after Typhoon Ambo on Saturday afternoon in Purok Masayahin, Barangay Salinas. Lucena City police head Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea identified the victims as Michaela Amargo, 18; and Jana Marie Cadacio, 15, both residents of Barangay Ibabang Iyam here. Albacea said that around 3 p.m. Saturday, the victims, along with nine friends, boarded a trolley that traversed the Philippine National Railways (PNR) tracks from Purok Curva in Barangay Ibabang Iyam going to Barangay Salinas to swim in the river. Report said that the victims reached a deep portion of the river when suddenly their friends noticed that the victims did not float anymore.
