New content on the popular digital music streaming servicethat’s definitely worth exploring
The world of music and podcasts is a wonderful one.
The former can be found in every known culture and religion, past and present, widely varying between times and places, but certainly enjoyed by everyone. Podcasts, on the other hand, was just recently developed in 2004, but are already the new go-to distraction right now. Normally, a podcast is similar to a radio show, consisting of a host discussing a subject, telling stories, interviewing guests, or a mix thereof.
Today, there are thousands of quality podcasts regularly being made that either inform or entertain listeners. New podcasts hit the airwaves all the time and there’s something out there for every taste and style. Here are three new discoveries on the popular digital music streaming service, Spotify, worth checking out.
1. Harry Podcast
This one’s for the Potterheads. Some of the well-loved personalities from global entertainment, music, and sports have lent their voices to tell the story of the first Harry Potter book, “the Philosopher’s Stone.” The seven cast narrators who will be reading sections of the iconic first book of J.K. Rowling’s novel series are Daniel Radcliffe, Stephen Fry, David Beckham, Dakota
Fanning, Claudia Kim,
Noma Dumezweni, and Eddie Redmayne. All seventeen chapters of the book will be released between May and the middle of the summer. Aside from the audio-only version, there are also video readings that can be found in
Harry Potter at Home, an initiative developed by Wizarding World Digital and J.K. Rowling’s agents The Blair Partnership, in response to the
Covid-19 pandemic.
2. The Last Dance
After the recent release of the wildly popular The Last Dance, a docuseries chronicling basketball legend Michael
Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, two curated playlists tied to the show are now available on Spotify. Aside from the story itself, the music in the series, with curation assistance by Rudy Chung, has been getting fan buzz and interest. The launch features two exclusive playlists— one with music, while the other with podcasts. The Last Dance official playlist includes music inspired by the series, including hits such as LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad,” Prince’s “Partyman,” and The
Alan Parson Project’s “Sirius,” which is famous as the Chicago Bulls Theme Song, among others. Meanwhile, the other playlist will feature podcasts that discuss and dive further into the docuseries, giving streamers a closer look at the show. It includes episodes from The Bill Simmons Podcast, Jalen & Jacoby The Aftershow, Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, and more.
3. A new style for lifestyle
Manila Bulletin Lifestyle ventures into audio podcastsas it launches its very first channel that covers stories of positivity, good humans, and just about anything and everything worth discussing. Manila
Bulletin Lifestyle’s podcast airs personal narratives and intimate conversations with industry leaders, famous personalities, business leaders, as well as politicians. The show aims to inform, inspire, and empower streamers through meaningful monologues or dialogues by some of the most interesting people out there.
