Remulla plans targeted testing in Cavite

CAVITE — Governor Jonvic Remulla bared plans to implement targeted testing as the province tries to cope with the new normal amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In his Facebook post Wednesday morning, May 27, Remulla clarified that not all Caviteños will undergo real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing.

Instead, certain groups will be prioritized to spring the province forward after a lull of over two months due to community quarantine.

“Nag umpisa na ang mga frontliners... Sunod na po ang mga pulis na araw gabi ang exposure sa lansangan (We have started with the frontliners. The police, who are exposed dayand-night in the streets, will be next)

“Sunod ay ang mga pabrikante at mangagawa. Sa ngayon ay 50 percent work force lamang ang pahintulot ng national government. Ang target natin ay 100 percent tested para payagan tayo ng 100 percent operations. (Next would be the factory workers and laborers. Only 50 percent of the work force is allowed to work. Our target is to test 100 percent so that 100 percent of the operations will be permitted),” he added.

The targeted testing program will also cover senior citizens at risk, as well as educators and students before the academic year starts.

“Paalala. Imposible po na 100 percent ng kalalawigan ay kaya magkaroon ng PCR test. Ang kailangan ay gamitin ang best practices na ginawa na sa buong mundo para magtagumpay ito (Reminder. It’s impossible to subject 100 percent of our provincemates to PCR test. We have to use the best practices done by the rest of the world so that we can triumph).” the governor reiterated.

As of May 26, Cavite has recorded 317 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 107 recoveries and 27 mortalities.
