More LGUs join VP’s online market

- By RAYMUND F. ANTONIO

The local governments of Muntinlupa City and Siargo will join the Office of the Vice President’s online market service to help small market vendors and tricycle drivers who have borne the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic.

This is according to Vice President Leni Robredo, whose office will roll out the Community Mart mobile app in Muntinlupa City next week.

”Noon Thursday iyong team ng Muntinlupa pumunta na sa Pasig para mag-observe. Siguro next week, puwede na kaming mag-umpisa sa Muntinlupa (Last Thursday, the Muntinlupa team went to Pasig to observe. Probably next week, we can start in Muntinlupa),” she said.

The Muntinlupa city government will be the third LGU in the capital region that will join OVP’s e-market project. The others are the cities of Quezon and Pasig.

Down south, the online market is also servicing the residents of Zamboanga City. But unlike the Community Mart app, they can place their orders through the Angat Buhay Mart Facebook page.

Robredo’s office launched the project last month to set up a online platform where customers can order food items from a certain market and have delivered by tricycle drivers.

The vice president said the local government of Siargao has also shown interest in partnering with her office for the delivery service.

“Siargao has already contacted us. It is also interested. We might bring the model of Zamboanga there,” she said in Pilipino.

To date, the Community Mart has generated over P3 million in sales in Pasig City, the highest among the participating LGUs.
