ABLE TABLES
Five desks to boost your productivity while working from home
As the new normal now dictates our “mode” of work, a lot of people are working from home. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement, but it seems that this would be a permanent thing, as far as this year goes.
A dedicated workspace at home, called “home-office,” requires a legit work desk. Not any table will do, though. Your desk needs to be flexible enough to fit whatever space is available or to be moved somewhere else should you decide to switch things up. It must also encourage uninterrupted workflow by providing ample space and decent storage capabilities.
If you’re on the lookout for such desks or are hoping to replace the makeshift work desk (aka dining table) you’ve been using since the beginning of the quarantine, here are a few that can help you work more efficiently, even in the comfort of your own home.
Executive Table, Ofix, R13,999
Feel like your own boss with this
L-shaped desk, perfect for workspaces situated at the corner of your bedroom or living room. It comes with a table, as well as spacious shelves and cabinets, all of which are made of melamine panels, a hard surface material that’s easy to clean and is resistant to scratches and staining. Its leg material, meanwhile, is metal. Get this quick while it’s still on sale.
Lexington Linear Working Table, Top Choice Furniture, R4,800
If a durable desk is what you’re looking for, this is for you. Its table top, which is 2.5 centimeters thick, is made of melamine, while its frame material is metal. This desk, though simple, is just as versatile as other workstations, whether it’s for paperwork or online deliverables. The table is only a little over a meter wide, too, ideal for those who can only add space-saving furniture at home.
Kala Desk, Edia Home
If you live in a tiny space, consider this minimalist desk. Designed to be fastened to the wall, this white oak table is perfect for impromptu work corners in apartments or condo units. Despite its width of only half a meter, the desk maximizes its height to add open shelves where you can easily store and reach for your work needs.
Scandi Table, LS Furniture,
R3,350
This desk won’t feel out of place at your home as its wood finish fits right into the cozy feel of a living space. Its table top, which can be in white or wood color, is also spacious enough to accommodate either your laptop or computer, as well as file organizers. If you need more storage, a cabinet is ready to hold more work-related materials or equipment.
Tilly desk, Urban Concepts,
R12,950
No matter the size or layout of your home, this work table is versatile enough to fit any space or room. As it is modular, this desk can be set up as an L-shaped table, as a linear workstation, or even separately. You need not worry about the material used, too, as it is made of solid wood boards.
