Vice President Leni Robredo has rolled out an apprenticeship program for some 400 out-of-school youths to give them jobs during the pandemic.

The program dubbed as “TrabaHOPE” will give free technicalvocational skills training to OSYs aged 18 to 30.

“We will give scholarships. The training and allowance are free, including all those needed are free,” Robredo said.

The Vice President said the apprentice will be given employment opportunities in various companies after completing their training.

“Mayroong computers, mayroong IT (Information Technology), mayroong service crew,” Robredo said.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide jobs to the out-of-school youths.

This is the third leg of OVP’s “Bayanihanapbuhay” initiative, following the launching of its job listings platform Sikap.PH for displaced workers and Iskaparate.com website to help small entrepreneurs to sell their products in the online market.

Under the TrabaHOPE program, Robredo noted most of its partners are local government units in the Greater Manila Area.

“We are looking for partner youth organizations which can help us to find out-of-school youth who need jobs,” she said.
