Portugal and Juventus superstar Cristiano

Ronaldo was said to be “fine and sunbathing” on Tuesday after testing positive for coronavirus which has ruled him out of a midweek Nations

League fixture with his country.

Ronaldo “is asymptomatic” and “will not play against Sweden” in Wednesday’s Nations League match, the Portuguese federation said on its website.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner played in Portugal’s goalless Nations League draw against France in Paris on Sunday.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini said he had spoken to Ronaldo.

“He’s fine and was sunbathing, he’ll be back when he’s ready,” he reported. (AFP)

Dustin Johnson has tested positive for COVID19, the PGA Tour said Tuesday, forcing the world number one golfer’s withdrawal from the CJ Cup in Las Vegas.

Johnson underwent a test after experiencing symptoms of coronavirus ahead of Thursday’s opening round at Shadow Creek, the tour said in a statement.

The 36-year-old, whose last outing came at last month’s US Open, is now undergoing self-isolation, the tour added.

“Obviously, I am very disappointed,” Johnson said. “I was really looking forward to competing

this week, but will do everything I can to return as quickly as possible.” (AFP)

Former Philadelphia 76ers’ coach Brett Brown on Tuesday quit his role with Australia’s Olympic basketball team nine months before the rescheduled Tokyo Games.

Brown was appointed last November to the coach the Australian team, known as the Boomers, with hopes high of winning a maiden gold medal at the Olympics, which have been delayed by until July 2021.

But Brown’s circumstances changed when he was sacked two months ago after the Sixers were swept out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics.

And he said a combination of having to rebuild

his career and travelling restrictions because of the coronavirus pandemic meant he could not continue to coach Australia. (AFP)
