111.4-million marijuana destroyed in Benguet

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet — A lady officer led the destructio­n of a total of 111.4 million worth of marijuana plants, which the police uprooted and seized from eight plantation sites in the mountainou­s area in Kibungan, Benguet.

Benguet Provincial Office Director Col. Elmer Ragay said Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company Head Lt. Joyce Gayaden was leading a foot patrol when they found eight marijuana plantation­s in Sitio Batangan, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on Thursday, October 15.

Ragay said Gayaden immediatel­y called for a back-up team from the Benguet Provincial Office and Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA), then proceeded to eradicate the illegal plants.

Ragay said, a total of 13,380 pcs of fully grown marijuana plants, 67,600 marijuana seedlings, and 20 kilos of marijuana stalks, amounting to 111.48 million were destroyed and burned onsite, while 20 kilos of marijuana stalks will be brought to Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet for the ceremonial burning. No person was arrested during said operation.
