Panabo City records first COVID-19 death

DAVAO CITY — Panabo City in Davao del Norte province recorded its first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) fatality on Saturday, October 17.

In a statement on Sunday, the city government said the 41-yearold patient, identified as PC84, died on October 15 at the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC). The patient was a resident of Barangay Sto. Niño, and owned an eatery at the Premiumed Market.

The City Health Office of Panabo also noted possible community transmission in the city.

In a statement, the health office said PC84 had no history of travel to a COVID-19 high-risk area.

The City Health Office also said another patient, a 55-year-old male who lives in Barangay J. P. Laurel, is now admitted at DRMC after he manifested symptoms of the dreaded disease.

Contact tracing of those who possibly had close contacts with the

patient is still ongoing. The City Health Office said some of the individuals, who had contacts with the patient, were already isolated, and were waiting for the results of their swab tests.

Panabo City recorded its latest case on Sunday. The City Health Office said the 36-year-old female patient identified as PC85 was exposed to a patient who also tested positive for COVID-19 from Davao City.

PC85 is a resident of Barangay Gredu and is currently admitted in an isolation facility.

Panabo City has recorded a total of 85 cases of COVID-19, 15 of which are active cases, while 69 have recovered from the disease.
