Paulo Avelino wants young actors to be braver

-

2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Actor Paulo Avelino for the movie “Fan Girl” shared what he thinks about winning an award during these times.

“Siguro this time there’s more mileage because MMFF is the biggest festival locally so I’m sure mas maraming reach, mas madaming tao nanunuod, mas madaming katulad ko na aktor or aktres na makakakita and ma-iinspire sila

to not just accept roles like this, but look for the material that they haven’t done and that would challenge them.

“At the same time, I also want to send a message to the young actors to be braver. Don’t be afraid to accept a role. Minsan kasi nagiging hadlang ’yung stardom or image or ’yung gustong patunguhan nung bata. Nasa industriya tayo and we are actors, at the same time that the filmmakers are elevating their films, dapat sumabay din ang mga actors na sumabay din sila,” he shared.

In his acceptance speech, Paulo dedicated his latest recognition to his son Aki.

Aki,” he explained.

“Fan Girl” director Antoinette Jadaone shared her future projects in a recent interview. The award winning director also gave trivia about writing the script for the 2020 MMFF Best Picture.

Direk Tonette admitted that real fans were her inspiration in writing “Fan Girl” as she dedicated the film and multiple awards to them.

So I think what started as just a story on fan culture and celebrity culture, it was actually what we had in mind at the start,” she explained.

Another trivia shared by the director is that during the filming of “Fan Girl” direk Tonette admitted she deliberately made sure Charlie Dizon did not interact with Paulo off camera.

I think nagwork naman kasi ang ginawa namin sa shoot, ’yung first part ng script first part talaga ng shoot namin ginawa so almost chronological namin siya ginawa.” she said.

“Fan Girl” is one of 10 official entries in the 2020 MMFF.
