Panelo rides jeep, goes to market to see if health protocols are followed

- By ARGYLL CYRUS B. GEDUCOS

Chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo took a jeepney ride anew to see for himself if heath protocols against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are being followed in public transport.

Photos taken by a fellow commuter Sunday morning, March 7 and sent to Manila Bulletin showed Panelo in white shirt and denim pants seated near the entrance of a jeepney using his phone with a face mask and face shield on.

A source told Manila Bulletin that Panelo was on his way to Agora Public Market in San Juan City and decided to take public transport to see for himself if health protocols are being followed in public transportations.

At the San Juan market, Panelo went to seafood stalls, looking at crabs, fish, and shrimps.

This is not the first time Panelo took a jeepney during his stint in Malacañang. On October 11, 2019, Panaelo made true his promise to commute alone from New Manila to Malacañang after being challenged by militant groups following his controversial statement that there is no mass transport 'crisis' in Metro Manila.

Panelo, back then, took a jeepney ride four times before riding a motorcycle to take him to the Palace. He arrived at the Palace at 8:46 a.m.

Panelo said he has no problem commuting as there were times when he was left with no choice but to hail a cab.
