Pagudpud’s Saud Beach among world’s 25 most beautiful beaches

Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte's Saud Beach, dubbed “Boracay of the North,” was included on the “25 Most Beautiful Beaches in the World” list by American magazine Travel+Leisure.

The New York-based travel magazine raved about Saud Beach's white sand and clear-as-glass waters, further describing it as “like a realworld example of a zero-entry swimming pool.”

The Department of Tourism (DOT) hailed the inclusion of Saud Beach – also tagged as the crown jewel of Pagudpud – in the international travel site’s A-list, adding that this recognition is a first for the coastal town.

“The DOT salutes the sole Philippine entry to the list, joining the ranks of other globally-recognized beaches,” it said in a statement.

Also included on Travel+Leisure’s coveted list were the Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Hanelei Bay in Kauai, Hawaii; and Cape Le Grand National Park in Western Australia, among others.

Aside from its beaches, Ilocos Norte is also home to many heritage sites and natural wonders including the oldest churches in the country like the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Paoay Church, Bangui Windmill, Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, and the sand dunes of Laoag.

Ilocos Norte is currently under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), meaning tourists planning to visit the province are required to register first at ilocosnorte.ph. There, they would be informed of the guidelines and required documents before traveling.
