San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora received on Friday morning, April 16, the first dose of China’s Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

“I hope that my vaccination today will help increase the confidence of our people in our vaccine program in San Juan. This will help us protect ourselves, our families and our communities from this pandemic,” the mayor said in a statement.

“As Mayor, the vaccine will give me extra protection as i perform my daily functions which include the monitoring of our vaccination program, distribution of ayuda to our constituents and implemenation of MECQ among other executive functions,” he added.

About 45 minutes after getting the jab, Zamora said he did not experience any adverse reaction from the vaccine.

“So far, so good po,” he said during a Facebook live.

The Department of Health (DOH) in department memorandum 2021-0175 said recovered COVID-19 patients are no longer required to wait for 90 days before getting the vaccine.

Zamora tested positive for COVID-19 on March 1 and recovered from it 14 days later.

On April 4, the IATF allowed mayors and governors in high-risk areas to get inoculated against the dreaded disease.
