Step up, be green
Help end plastic waste in style in these ‘new’ kicks
Sneakerheads, Disney fans, and net-zero living practitioners, rejoice. The iconic, white court sneaker, Stan Smith, has been reimagined to cater to the issues of sustainability. With the planet in mind, the footwear shows off a fresh redesign featuring Primegreen upper, made from a series of high-performance recycled materials. A signal to a new era for the classic silhouette.
Kermit the Frog narrates the new promotional film of the reworked shoes. “Being green isn’t about what’s easy. Sometimes it means trying the road less traveled,” the host of The Muppet Show says. While the tennis shoe comes in the classic design, a special edition with Kermit’s name embossed on the heel and his portrait printed on the left tongue exists. An additional green lace option is available. Embossed across both heel tabs is the phrase “It’s not easy being green,” a challenge to all. Because nothing great is ever easy.
Aside from the Muppet star, the collection also features designs based on green characters from Pixar, Disney, and Marvel, namely the Hulk, Rex from Toy Story, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, WALL-E from the animated movie of the same name, and Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.
Each pair features unique details and references to these characters, such as graphic outsoles, embossed details, bold graphics, playful prints, and additional lace options. All of them have Primegreen uppers and are sat atop recycled
rubber outsoles.
‘If we all do our part, we can make the world a better place, a greener place, for the next person to walk in our shoes.’—Kermit the Frog
