Navarrete son calls out Egyptian contender Amir

- By CARLO ANOLIN

Filipino fighter Rolando Dy has challenged Egyptian contender Ahmed Amir for his next fight in BRAVE Combat Federation.

Dy, son of Filipino boxing legend Rolando Navarrete, did not take Amir's past action well as the Egyptian, who was supposed to fight lightweight world champion Amin Ayoub, was sidelined due to injuries.

But Amir surprisingly made an appearance at the cageside and exchanged heated conversation with Ayoub, who scored a unanimous decision win over Mashrabjon Ruziboev in BRAVE CF 50 last April 1.

"I called out Amir on social media because he is acting like a clown. In my opinion, he doesn't deserve the title shot, yet it was given to him. I respect that, but the thing is that he backed out in his fight for the title. Then he showed up at the event, acting tough and acting like the champ," said Dy.

"I lost my respect for him that night, and I want to test if he is really tough like he said he is. I am here. I can give you a real fight," added the 29-year-old Filipino fighter, who holds a 14-10 record.

After yielding to Kyrgyz foe Abdisalam Kubanychbek in the lightweight title eliminator and missing his chance to face Ayoub, Dy is looking to teach Amir a lesson.

For Dy, the 2020 Fighter of the Year, this is Amir's chance to prove what he is capable of inside the cage, adding that the Egyptian grappler "does not have the right to act like a VIP" and be picky with his opponent.

"I don't back out, I don't make excuses, and I show up. He was blessed with a chance to fight for the title, but he didn't show up. He had plenty of reasons. I am built differently. As long as I can make the walkout, I will fight," said the Filipino warrior, who hopes to see action in Minsk, Belarus on June 4 in BRAVE CF 51.
