Fil-Austrian Alaba off to Real Madrid
Filipino-Austrian defender David Alaba is reportedly set to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid as he awaits his contract expiration with long-time team Bayern
Munich.
Per Max Bielefeld of Sky Sports, Alaba's contract has yet to be signed but "will be in the next weeks."
Alaba, who has won the UEFA Champions League twice with Bayern in 2013 and 2020, will be moving to Real Madrid on a free transfer after 13 rich seasons with Bayern.
The development also shut down possibilities of Alaba moving to English side Chelsea F.C.
The 28-year-old Fil-Austrian, whose mother is from Visayas, is on the verge of winning his ninth consecutive Bundesliga title following Tuesday's 2-0 home win against Leverkusen to strengthen their top position at 22-3-5 win-loss-draw record.
Last week though, Bayern and Alaba ended their Champions League campaign after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brazilian star Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain.
