Flying Titans hike perfect start to 5

- By CARLO ANOLIN

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans remained undefeated in five straight games after beating the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the

PCV Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Trailing 22-18 in the fourth set, BaliPure put up a fight by scoring three straight points but Choco Mucho returned the favor with a 3-0 run of its own capped by a down the line hit for the win by Kat Tolentino, who led the Flying Titans with 25 points on top of 23 kills.

Choco Mucho coach Oliver Almadro was nothing but praises for BaliPure for giving the Flying Titans a good challenge.

“Alam mo naman BaliPure, since the tournament started, they're so resilient,” said Almadro. “’Yong hustle nila andon kapag nagulat ka sa hustle nila, lalabas na doon cohesiveness ng team kung matagal na kami magkasama ’yon ang point doon. 'Yong 5-0 wala ’yon ang importante 'yong learning araw-araw.

“Kailangan makarecover din katawan. BaliPure played well. Na-challenge kami and maganda sa mga player. They accepted the challenge especially Kat and Denden (Lazaro-Revilla) so talagang marami pa ding bagay-bagay na kailangang maging consistent and fluid pa.”

The Flying Titans are still tied with the Creamline Cool Smashers as the top-seeded teams while the Purest Water Defenders suffered their second straight loss and fell to a 2-3 record.

The Perlas Spikers and the Petro Gazz Angels are battling each other as of press time.
