Cash compensation for persons with work-related disability
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allocated funds for the rehabilitation, occupational therapy and livelihood of employees with work-related disabilities.
Under DOLE’s Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), any person or employee who is diagnosed with work-related sickness or illness is entitled to receive services and assistance from the Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program.
The ECC, through its Regional Extension Unit IV-A (ECC-REU 4A), has awarded kit and cash assistance in the amount of ₱30,000 to Lovely Supremo, 37, of Biñan, Laguna who was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome on March 2019.
“Those who have approved EC (employees compensation) benefits can approach or contact ECC offices to avail said services. Under the EC KaGabay Program, persons with work-related disabilities can receive free rehabilitation services such as physical/occupational therapy, assistive devices, or livelihood training,” said DOLE-ECC in a statement.
The DOLE- ECC on Monday, Aug. 22, conducted an online public assistance to employees with inquiries. Dubbed EC-Online Public Assistance (EC-OPA), employees with compensation concerns will no longer appear in person to ECC offices for inquiries and filing of compensation with their employers.
“If you have questions about the Employees' Compensation Program, prepare the questions and log in to the zoom link so that our OPArtners can assist you via zoom,” the ECC said.
The agency however, noted that acceptance of virtual EC clients via Zoom is on a first come, first-served basis. Inquiries will also be entertained through https://us06web.zoom. us/j/84048553354 with the meeting ID of (840 4855 3354) and passcode: ECOA. (Jun Marcos Tadios)
